Introduction:
Former special minister and close aide
to former prime minister Imran Khan, Farrukh Habib, announced his departure
from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his joining of the
Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, dealing another blow to Khan.
A few weeks after the former senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vanished, his wife approached Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa to request that her husband’s “enforced disappearance” be taken seriously.
A few weeks after going missing, Farrukh made an announcement about jumping ship at a press conference alongside the leader of the IPP.
He escaped multiple attempts at arrest, but was taken into custody when the crackdown became more intense after May 9, 2023.
